Hi, I’m Abi.

I have a Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Canine Behaviour and Training from Bishop Burton and I’m currently furthering my studies with a BSc (Hons) in Canine Behaviour Management. My experience includes running Barker’s Academy for the last three years before working in rescue environments with dogs from all backgrounds. This has given me valuable insight into a wide range of behavioural challenges. I also have experience working with a multitude of other animals, from small furries and cats, to horses and livestock.

In addition to managing Barker’s Academy, I work as a Dog Wellbeing Technician with Guide Dogs. This role has deepened my knowledge and honed my dog handling skills, whilst also enhancing my passion for cooperative care training. It has also aided in developing my ability to adapt training plans and dog handling for individual needs of dog owner’s who seek my support.

I am fully insured and Canine First Aid trained, so you can have peace of mind that your dog is in safe, knowledgeable hands.

I use force-free, science-backed training methods that prioritise your dog’s welfare and long-term success. Having trained and competed my own dogs up to Grade 4 in Agility, I understand the importance of structured, positive training—whether for everyday life or competitive activities.

At Barker’s Academy, I offer a personal, tailored approach to suit your dog’s individual needs. If you’d like to find out more, I’d love to hear from you.
